Problems With Your Dishwasher? Make These Checks Before You Call A Repair Service

If you are having problems with your dishwasher, you should make the checks below before you pick up that phone to call a repair service. You may be surprised there are many things you can do on your own, depending on the problem you are having. Below are three of these problems so you can see if you can save some money.

Dishes Have Spots

If you constantly see spots on your dishes, this can be frustrating. One problem that can cause this is overloading your dishwasher. This is because the detergent and water are not able to clean properly.

Another thing that can cause this problem is using too much detergent. This is because the water does not have time to rinse off the extra detergent. Make sure you are using the right amount each time you use the dishwasher.

Hard water can also cause spots on dishes. If you have hard water, consider purchasing a water softener to soften your water.

Problems with the Spray Arm

If your spray arm is not moving completely around when the dishwasher is running, the dishes will not be cleaned properly. One thing that can cause this problem is a utensil falling down into the dishwasher. This is because the utensil will block the arm from moving.

If the spray arm does not spray much water as it is moving, there may be debris inside the spray arm. The debris will block the holes in the arm so the water will not come out properly. Remove the screws in the spray arm and remove it. Once removed, see if there is any debris, such as food, blocking it. If so, wash the spray arm with warm water to see if the debris will come out, and then put the spray arm back inside the dishwasher.

Problems with a Leak

If you notice that your dishwasher is leaking water, this can be caused by a bad seal. The seal is around the door and made of vinyl or rubber. Over time, this seal will stretch out and become dirty. If you see that it is stretched out, then you need to replace the seal. If it is not stretched out, clean the seal with some soap and water using a sponge.

If you are still having problems with your dishwasher, you should contact a major appliance repair company in your area to repair it for you. Stop using the dishwasher until you get it repaired to prevent further damage.

About Me

Remodeling Your Home Can Improve Your Life

When I was growing up, my parents were avid believers in feng shui, although I was too young to really understand it. They did teach me that by arranging your home properly, it improved the "energy flow" in the home. I had a great childhood, but when I moved out on my own, I started having back luck. My parents encouraged me to have some home remodeling done to improve the energy flow in my home, and soon after, my luck seemed to turn around. I am still not sure if I believe in feng shui, but I know I just feel great in my newly remodeled home and I think the fresh new really got me out of "the rut" I felt I was stuck in. I want to pay it back to others by sharing what I have learned about remodeling on my new blog!
